Oh Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?

PS: This is a post addressed to all in this time of Silence (the day after Good Friday), and especially to anyone who has lost a loved one. Mother Mary with Jesus as a baby and same Jesus, Crucified. (Image from Pinterest ) We just celebrated the passion of Christ and while I contemplated on this - the highlight of the Christian life (as without Christ, there is no Christianity), I wondered what could have gone through the heart of Mary; the Mother of Jesus and His beloved disciple, who stood at the foot of the Cross after witnessing the gruesome and agonizing death of our Lord.  The Not so pleasant News Easter Sunday, the 12th of April 2020, will make it a month, my dear friend OG died. The news of her demise was one that shook me to my core. I recall breaking down to the point that I couldn't even stay sane on a work call, regardless of whoever was in it.  I dialled her number to prove the news incorrect but it was switched off. I even sent a message...

Reflections on the Readings of the Day - 8th April 2020

Image
(Holy Week/Last Week of Lent) ----------------------------------------------- First Reading:  Isaiah 50: 4-9a Res. Psalm:  Psalm 69: 8-10. 21-22. 31. & 33-34 (R.14c,b) The verse before the Gospel:  Hail our King! You alone have had mercy on our failings! Gospel:  Matthew 26: 14-25 ---------------------------------------------- Hello Readers! As we approach the crux of the Lenten season, the readings just like yesterday are centred on the agony and betrayal of our Lord Jesus Christ. Highlighted by the Holy Spirit in the readings of today was the act of ' Submission '.  Google defines submission as  the action of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person. In line with what was shared in yesterday's reflection, the choices we make, result from who we submit our will to.   In life here on earth, there are two forces at play for our submission - The force of Good and that of...

The Flawed Sense of Justice.

Utilizing the daily readings for 11th September 2018 from the Catholic Missal, the lessons learnt has left a mark within me..which I'd like to share. First Reading: 1 Corinthians 6:1-11  Res.Psalm: Psalms 149:1-6, 9 Gospel: Luke 6:12-19 The Lessons: Leave Judgment to God and endure until HE wills it time to show up. Die to self - Loose it all for the Sake of God Almighty in Christ Jesus, is in itself Great Gain. To Willingly Accept Injustice?? In the first reading, St. Paul says "Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? " - this reminds me of Jesus' words in Matthew 5:39 - " Turn the other cheek. .". As Christians, we are called to love..and to love even those who hurt us (this distinguishes us from the non-believers). This doesn't make logical sense at all, Nope, Not at all! Which is why the people preferred the law of Moses stating an eye for an eye (as in Exodus 21:24 ) - YASS!! This is more like it! Yh? Thing is thi...

The Beauty in Pain & Suffering..😉

Image
..Pain...Suffering..  ..two words no one in their right 'Logical' state of mind would willingly want to associate themselves with. If we could have our way, we as Christians won't want anything to do with it..not one bit. Have you ever heard someone say "Lord, let me suffer for your sake"..Yes, I have..It was Paul..in his letter to the Philippians..and it was said out of Love..not compulsion. "..And this is given to you from God, that not only should you believe in The Messiah, but that you also will suffer for his sake."   -   Philippians  1:29 Pain is Good? Yes, the ability to feel pain is good.. It's part of being human. Pain tells you when something is wrong. eg. An acute pain in your chest will encourage you to visit the hospital and probably get your heart condition checked. A searing from the hot pot in the kitchen will send signals to our brain that we should get our hand/body away from it to avoid being scarred/burnt. This i...
