The God We Do not Deserve

Image
Hello! Last Sunday was celebrated as The Divine Mercy Sunday and so, I see this week as the week of Mercy 😊 . Mercy ... Mercy ... Mercy ... as I ponder about the Mercy of God (my mind delights in taking mental trips that lead towards discovering more about Him), I can't help but stop my train of thoughts as I arrive at the same question that I keep asking; "what is man that You are so mindful of him?" ( Psalm 8:4-5 ) Mercy that Won't Let Go Diary of St. Faustina (sourced from Pinterest ) God's mercy cannot be exhausted in one's lifetime. His Mercy is endless. We catch a glimpse of the depth of His Mercy and the extent to which it would go, in His Passion. He could have given up on the way to Calvary,  yet He bore the weight of the heavy cross on His wounded back, for our sake.  He could have destroyed us in an instant and recreated another world, yet He chose to pay the FULL price for our redemption from bondage - which we got ourselves in

In a Time Such as This ...

Hello! It has been a stressful period here lately. Asides from the pressures and demands of work, there is undeniable negative energy loaming around as a result of the effects of the coronavirus plaguing the world and its economy at the moment. Businesses are shutting down, sources of livelihood are being sealed off. Apart from the horrible financial implications being borne by many, people are growing hungry, giving in to anxiety, fear, and in some drastic cases, despair . Many are turning to crime, abuse of alcohol, drugs & other things as a coping mechanism. The Divine Mercy Icon (source: Pinterest ) In this chaos, we seem to be experiencing a case of perfect timing as we approach the Feast of Divine Mercy - a feast where we celebrate the immeasurable mercy of God through the Crucified and Wounded Heart of Jesus Christ and also implore abundant mercy and grace upon ourselves and on the world . The Novena began on Good Friday and today is day 6. You can join in

Oh Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?

PS: This is a post addressed to all in this time of Silence (the day after Good Friday), and especially to anyone who has lost a loved one. Mother Mary with Jesus as a baby and same Jesus, Crucified. (Image from Pinterest ) We just celebrated the passion of Christ and while I contemplated on this - the highlight of the Christian life (as without Christ, there is no Christianity), I wondered what could have gone through the heart of Mary; the Mother of Jesus and His beloved disciple, who stood at the foot of the Cross after witnessing the gruesome and agonizing death of our Lord.  The Not so pleasant News Easter Sunday, the 12th of April 2020, will make it a month, my dear friend OG died. The news of her demise was one that shook me to my core. I recall breaking down to the point that I couldn't even stay sane on a work call, regardless of whoever was in it.  I dialled her number to prove the news incorrect but it was switched off. I even sent a message to h

Reflections on the Readings of the Day - 8th April 2020

(Holy Week/Last Week of Lent) ----------------------------------------------- First Reading:  Isaiah 50: 4-9a Res. Psalm:  Psalm 69: 8-10. 21-22. 31. & 33-34 (R.14c,b) The verse before the Gospel:  Hail our King! You alone have had mercy on our failings! Gospel:  Matthew 26: 14-25 ---------------------------------------------- Hello Readers! As we approach the crux of the Lenten season, the readings just like yesterday are centred on the agony and betrayal of our Lord Jesus Christ. Highlighted by the Holy Spirit in the readings of today was the act of ' Submission '.  Google defines submission as  the action of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person. In line with what was shared in yesterday's reflection, the choices we make, result from who we submit our will to.   In life here on earth, there are two forces at play for our submission - The force of Good and that of Evil.   God is Good,

(Holy Week/Last Week of Lent) ----------------------------------------------- First Reading:  Isaiah 49: 1-6 Res. Psalm:  Psalm 71: 1-2. 3-4a. 5-6ab & 17 (R.15ab) The verse before the Gospel:  Hail our King! Obedient to the Father; You were led to Crucifixion like a meek lamb to the slaughter . Gospel:  John 13: 21-33. 36-38 ---------------------------------------------- Hello Readers! The first reading speaks of Jesus through the mouth of the Prophet Isaiah. Jesus was brought into this world for a purpose - to bring God's people back to Him by restoring the once perfect relationship that was torn by Sin.  Sin can simply be defined as Man's free will (choice) to not trust God. Every act of Sin stems from disobedience to God's word, and this is usually as a result of a lack of trust in God.  The root cause of theft is the lack of trust in God to meet our needs . The root cause of g reed is the lack of trust in God to sustain us if we share what

(Holy Week/Last Week of Lent) ----------------------------------------------- First Reading: Isaiah 42: 1-7 Res. Psalm: Psalm 27: 1. 2. 3. 13-14 (R.1a) The verse before the Gospel: Hail our King! You alone have had mercy on our failings . Gospel: John 12: 1-11 ---------------------------------------------- Hello Readers! Today's reflection is built around the theme as seen in the responsorial psalm: The Lord is my Light & my Salvation, whom shall I fear? One is reminded again, when going through the readings, of the fact that Salvation is gotten, only through Jesus Christ . Isaiah prophesied about the Saviour, whom God uses, to bring Liberation and Freedom to His people. Below are some of the beautiful traits of this Saviour of ours: Bearing wrongs patiently - He did not complain despite being wrongly treated. Perseverance - He did not give up!  Commitment - He finished what He started. These few traits, call to mind the first letter of St. Paul to the
