70 x 7 - The Amazing Power in Forgiveness.
The Bible verse addressing the number of times we should forgive our fellow brethren is one that may be very familiar with us - Matthew 18: 22. 21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 18:21-22 King James Version (KJV) The highlighted words in that verse of the NIV Bible says ""22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times ." I recall those days when I would literally calculate that figure and say, "well, the Lord wants me to forgive my neighbor 70*7 = 490 times". The next question that followed that was, how am I supposed to keep count of how many times my neighbor offends me?? Do I have to keep a "Black" book for them?
